Collaborative Science

Like many of his contemporaries in the Enlightenment era, James Hutton saw no boundaries between disciplines or areas of science, research or interest. He moved in diverse company of artists, scientists, philosophers and business people. He thought deeply about the relation between the land, its people and government. This approach in his professional and research lives allowed him and his 18th century peers to see connections – and make discoveries - in several areas of knowledge and understanding from the natural sciences to the arts and humanities.
